Traditional Boat Makers, Pulau Duyong,Terengganu, Malaysia.
Pulau Duyong or Mermaid Island are consist of Pulau Duyong Besar (big) and Pulau Duyong Kecil (small). They are actually not really an island instead both are two peninsular that extends from the mainland and river towards the sea. Pulau Duyong Besar is the home of the most famous master boat makers and the oldest traditional boat making in Malaysia and is already an international tourist destination.Pulau Duyong which is only a few hectares big sits between The Sultan Mahmud Bridge and Kuala Sungai Terengganu making it easily accessible by road or river.Traditional Boat Making Terengganu's world-famous traditional boat makers in Duyong Island are known to build row boats, deep-sea fishing boats and luxury yachts from memory and experience, and without blueprints and nails! Visitors can stroll from one workshop to another to see the craftsmen at work. The island is easily accessible via the Sultan Mahmud Bridge or a short boat ride from the Kuala Terengganu waterfront.
The island has gained worldwide recognition as a centre for traditional boat making. The boats are built without the use of blueprints or plans. Everything was done by hand and surprisingly, there were few modern equipment used. It’s true indeed that they don’t use a single blueprint or plan to build a vessel, be it a giant trawler or a luxury yacht destined for foreign shores!All a master craftsman needs to know is the type and size of vessel. He then draws on his vast experience and photographic memory to begin his work. Even in this day and age, well-worn traditional tools like axe, saw, plane and hammer are the main tools of the trade.
Boat builders prefer to make use of the local high quality Cengal wood (neo balanocarpus), Penaga wood (mesua ferrea) for the dowels. Kulit gelam (tree bark-melaleaca leucadendron) is used for caulking, the water proof packing pressed between the planks. The Cengal wood planks were left under sun for several months before use. This rendered Cengal wood lighter, easier to work and less liable to warp.
Normally boat builders take about two years or tree years to finish their job and the costs to finish the boat around RM 2 billion to RM 3 billion, depends on boat size, woods and any special request. Feel free to visit Pulau Duyong before all the herritage gone .

Chinese New Year
First of all....so sorry after long time no update my fotopages.....it been ages and have so many things happen....i realised im stop updating whle fotopages have problem..try update many times but failed.....and also busy working....beside that i,m start using flickr and its look easier and faster but different with fotopages....also can meet another friends in flcickr and fotopages....but than i cant just letgo like that...because fotopages have their own speciality and the important thing is....i have so lovely friends in here that i lear a lot from them.....than tonite luckily a manage to back again and update again my fotopages. Thanks for all support...and i will update more soon....also can visit my other website....

Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah dan Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah.
20 September 2007 yang lalu, telah diadakan satu majlis berbuka puasa bersama Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah dan Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah di UiTM Shah Alam. Program ini bermula dengan kehadiran pelajar, kakiktangan UiTM, Dif kehormat dan Yang di-Pertuan Agong & Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah . Majlis berbuka puasa dimulakan dengan bacaan doa , berbuka, solat magrib berjemaah, makan malam, solat isyak dan terawih berjemaah dan diakhiri dengan moreh.

Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2007
On 15-16 September...at Times Square Kuala LUmpur....Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2007. More than 30 booth open for foto exhibition and trading. alsao have seminar on photography and also shoot model contest bt Tamron and FujiFilm.Luckily i,m the 2nd winner for shoot model contest by Tamron.....its really unbelieveble....cause there lots of professional and more expensive gear they use......but luckily i,m the 2nd winner....ok...keep good work....

20 Mei 2007 : Sekitar pukul 5 petang, aku menuju ke Jalan Tengku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur dengan harapan akan ada subject untuk diambik foto/ dijadikan cerita. Suasana ketika itu hujan renyai2....aku bermula dari kompleks Pertama menuju ke SOGO...stop sekejap kat situ, buat pemerhatian kepada manusia sekeliling, kelihatan anak muda mudi sedang melepak kat tangga SOGO, family yang kelurr masuk SOGO shopping sakan ada SALE...
Kemudian telinga ku terdengar bunyian suara nyanyian dari seberang jalan, menarik pandanganku dan untuk membuka langkahku menuju kearah suara nyanyian yang merdu itu. Setelah menyeberang jalan ( ketika ini kenderaan tak hormati sangat pejalan kaki nak lintas jalan, walaupun melintas kat lintasan zebra sebelah traffic light, nilai kemanusiaan pemandu semakin kurang dengan impian pemandu nak cepat sampai dan tak hormat orang lain).
Sampai seberang SOGO, kelihatan blind couple sedang bergabung tenaga menghiburkan orang ramai yang lalu lalang disekitar Jln Tun Abdul Rahman. Ada yang tak mengendahkan langsung, malah ada juga yang memandang dengan muka yang jelek, tetapi ada juga insan yang nak membantu dengan menghulurkan sumbangan duit semampu yanga ada.
Kelihatan disini unsur2 kemanusiaan dan mementingkan diri atau mungkin nak cepat?atau tiada perasaan? yang penting disini ialah usaha gigih couple ini dalam mencari rezeki untuk diri dan mungkin untuk keluarga. Terdengar lagu yang didendangkan agak memilukan hati yang mendengar. penuh makna tersirat...
Aku berdiri disudut kiri mereka yang memerhatikan gelagat manusia yang lalu lalang sambil mendengar nyayian mereka. ketika ini aku agak teragak2 nak mengambil gambar mereka, rasa serba salah...kasihan...so aku duduk lagi...dengar lagu sambil tengok reaksi orang ramai....kemudian ada seorang pakcik datang snap gambar dengan kamera handset. kemudian ada lagi snap gambar dengan kamera P&S...dan ramai lagi yang datang...ada juga yang hanya lalu buat2 tak tahu, ada juga yang singgah beri duit, ada yang duduk tengok saja...
Setelah sekian lama, aku pun keluarkan kamera dan ambik gambar mereka,ambik beberapa shoot dan kemudian menderma juga untuk mereka. ini saja dulu perkongsian aku untuk kali ini...
kalau nak beri input2 lain...cadangan...pandangan...kritikan...all welcome
